My Summer Beauty Picks

What is a girl without her arsenal of beauty products? (That’s kind of a joke and most definitely a rhetorical question, so please keep all your snarky comments and emails to yourselves!)

Anywho- these are the products that I am currently obsessing over. I say currently because if I’m honest with you, I’m somewhat of a product whore. I very, very seldomly continuously buy the same product over and over. I mean I can honestly say the only thing I don’t ever deviate from purchasing in the world of beauty is this Suave’s Shine Spray. It is seriously the BEST shine spray for hair that I have ever used and I have tried a lot of products from inexpensive to break the bank prices.

#1. Capri Seaside Citrus Body Spray from Bath & Body Works. This has been my go to summer scent. It reminds me of the beach, but not in the obvious coconutty type of sense (pun intended). There’s a tad bit of coconut in there, but what I mostly smell is a citrusy mix of grapefruit, nectarine, orange flower gently mixed with vanilla and musk. I could literally sit around sniffing a bottle of this stuff all day. It is that addictive.

#2. Batiste Dry Shampoo. I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos out there, but I keep coming back to Batiste. It is moderately priced, but what I love about it is that it comes it a range of scents and now they are even marketing formulas for hair colors. The one pictured above is designed for dark hair and it actually works! No weird grayish tones going on here! If you’ve never tried dry shampoo- look for my upcoming post all about it!

#3. Caudalie Divine Legs. Ok this one is a bit pricey and will cost you around $38. What is it? It’s a tinted lotion marketed for legs, but honestly can be used on any area of the body. I suffer from what some may refer to as pasty white girl syndrome and while I can tan, it takes a lot of effort and time. I refuse to mess around with tanning beds and I’ll say it’s because of skin cancer, but really it’s because I am vain and I don’t want to prematurely age. There I said it. What is awesome about this lotion is that it gives you just enough glow to look sunkissed and avoid all the “you’re blinding me with your moon tan comments” without the effort of the endless day to day application of self tanners. I mean self tanners are great and all, but you gotta do that shit everyday, especially with the graduals. This stuff literally all washes off and doesn’t leave any streaky mess.

#4. Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. In my quest to grow my hair out, I have found that this stuff is literally magic in a bottle. I can start with wet hair, let it air dry until it’s just a bit damp, spray some of this stuff in it and scrunch it up and I am good to go. Not only is this sweet because it saves me a ton of time, but I also have this great hair do. Includes coconut and suntan lotion beach scent.

#5. Maybelline BB Cream. I’m not going to lie to you. This is basically a tinted moisturizer. I know all the beauty lines are jumping on the trend wagon and trying to market these BB and CC Creams like nobody’s business, but that’s not why it’s on the list. For summer, I like something light, something that isn’t going to melt off my face in the Midwestern humidity. This stuff does just that and gives my face a glow. Also, not that you should do this, but I am guilty of occasionally sleeping in makeup and this stuff has never caused me to break out.

#6. They’re Real Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics. This comes in 2 sizes- the smaller travel size will run you around $10 and the full size is $23. So if you’ve never used it, do a test run with the smaller size (pictured above). I also happen to know that both Ulta and Sephora are currently selling a duo pack that includes the full size and the travel size for just the size of the full! Sweet deal!! That being said, here’s why I love it. My lashes are pretty long, so I never really splurged on mascara. Then I got the travel size as a birthday present from Sephora. Life changing. This stuff makes my lashes literally look fake. They are so long and so thick and I don’t even have to use a million coats!

#7. Sparklicity Pure Sparkle Powder by Tarina Tarantino. I love this for summer night out. It gives you just enough shimmer and sparkle without running the risk of looking cakey.

#8. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Coral Crush. Coral is a great summer color, not to mention it looks good with most skin tones. This is my go to summer color- perfect for day or night!

Don’t forget- beauty is what you make of it, so don’t be afraid to try new things and stretch your limits.

As always, be gorgeous!
